Amalgam Fillings

Fillings are used to repair cavities in your teeth. Traditional or amalgam fillings are made from a mixture of metals, they are a cost-effective option for larger load bearing cavities in back teeth. Studies have shown there are no harmful effects to general health from amalgam fillings and we use the higher strength option at The Earl Shilton Dental Practice.

White or Composite fillings

As an alternative to traditional silver (amalgam) fillings we are able to offer white (composite) fillings which are less noticeable visibly and are matched to the colour of your tooth and therefore used where a natural appearance is desired. They chemically bond to your tooth so a smaller retentive cavity is required to hold the filling in place.

Inlays and Onlays

For larger cavities we offer tooth-coloured inlays and onlays which offer a cosmetic option where increased strength may be required and where patients would like a metal-free restoration.
